About Molly

Molly is a hidden speakeasy-style bar in Odgers Lane in the city centre. It has no street sign; you go through an unassuming door and climb a set of stairs. Inside are dark wood panels, booths, a bar stocked with whisky and a grand piano. Side rooms can be booked for smaller groups, and members can keep bottles in private lockers. The opening-era report described a 1920s-style bar and a vault of copper cabinets.

Live jazz is the main program. HerCanberra's March 2026 guide lists live jazz on Wednesday and Friday nights, and Broadsheet describes a rotation of local pianists, saxophonists and other players a couple of nights a week. Drinks lean to whisky- and rum-based classic cocktails, with charcuterie-style plates in the early reports.

It opened in late February 2014 and was founded by Antony Arena, Lorenzo Focarile and Dean Brown.

Getting there

Light rail ends at Alinga Street, in the middle of Civic, and City Interchange (the bus station) is a short walk away. Late rideshare pick-up zones are on London Circuit, Genge Street and Alinga Street.
