About 88mph

88mph is an 1980s-themed basement bar in Hobart Place, reached by stairs. The long room has a banquette on one side and a bar on the other, with neon bars, pinball and arcade-style touches, a pizza kitchen at the front and a light-up LED dance floor at the back. Behind the dance floor are three karaoke rooms of different sizes that play 80s-only karaoke and can be booked for groups.

The soundtrack is 80s hits, and Visit Canberra lists karaoke on Wednesday nights. The drinks list centres on cocktails and beer on tap, with pizza and snacks to keep the dance floor going. HerCanberra's March 2026 night-out guide still lists it as a retro party venue with a dance floor and karaoke.

It came from the team behind Molly, Black Market and The Highball Express, with co-owner Antony Arena named in a 2017 opening report.
