Wakanda Place

258 Hindley Street. A multicultural bar celebrating African culture.

About Wakanda Place

Wakanda Place Multicultural Bar opened on Hindley Street in 2020 with the aim of celebrating African culture and welcoming people of all backgrounds. The fit-out mixes eclectic decor, neon and artwork, and the bar serves pub-style food and a namesake Wakanda cocktail.

Music is central: a rotating roster of local DJs plays Afrobeat, R&B, soul, jazz and EDM, and Thursday has been a Latin dancing night. The bar also hosts ticketed events, such as the Pangea Fest hip-hop night in February 2025, which ran until 3am.
