About Gang Gang Cafe & Bar

Gang Gang Cafe & Bar is at Shop 4, 2 Frencham Place, in the Downer shops. By day it serves breakfast, lunch and coffee. In the evening the lights go down for local beers, wines and live music, according to VisitCanberra.

The venue's website lists Wednesday trivia, a comedy night, free Friday Night Jazz from 6pm to 8pm, and ticketed themed events, with band bookings taken. Hours listed there are 7:30am to 3pm Monday and Tuesday and 7:30am till late Wednesday to Saturday. Sunday hours appear twice with different closing times, so check before going. It is card-only.

HerCanberra's September 2026 guide lists it as a bar, cafe and live-music venue with free Friday jazz, local and touring bands and community trivia. The ACT Government's May 2026 guide lists Friday jazz jams, debut tours and comedy. It is a suburban spot, not a late club.

Getting there

Light rail runs from Alinga Street to Dickson Interchange (five stops) and to Macarthur Avenue for Lyneham; the last service from Alinga Street is about 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and about 11:30pm on other nights. Downer and Belconnen are bus, taxi or rideshare trips (Rapid 3 and 4 serve Belconnen), so check Transport Canberra for the last service.
