Bar with live music

The Bird

181 William Street, Northbridge. Unpretentious little live room that’s been the launchpad for a lot of Perth bands.

About The Bird

The Bird is a small live music bar on William Street, opened in 2010 by Mike O'Hanlon and bought by Kabir Ramasary in 2016. Early on it campaigned against a proposed 10pm closing time from the liquor regulator.

The room holds about 150 and has exposed brick, wooden banquettes and an open-air courtyard out the back. Bands, solo artists and DJs play most nights, with plenty of single and EP launches from local acts. Flume, Tame Impala, Stella Donnelly, Spacey Jane and Methyl Ethel have all played here, and it has hosted fundraisers for community station RTRFM.
