Hobart

Buses are free

Metro Tasmania buses are free statewide until 30 June 2027 – don’t tap your Greencard. Late-night services are limited, so check Metro’s trip planner before you go out.

Closing times

There’s no citywide lockout, but most Hobart bars wrap up around midnight. Grinners trades until 3am and Don Frico until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays (Time Out, Aug 2026).

Taxis and rideshare

Taxis and rideshare work in Hobart. Salamanca and Elizabeth Street are the easiest places to get picked up.

Launceston

Walk it

The Royal Oak, Reggie and Midnight Rambler are all a short walk apart in the CBD.

Buses are free

Metro Tasmania buses in Launceston are also free until 30 June 2027. Check the trip planner for late services.
