About Hairy Mary’s

Hairy Mary's is a queer-owned LGBTQIA+ bar in Mermaid Beach, just south of Broadbeach, run by Steven Fahd and his team. It opened in early 2024 and marked its first birthday in January 2025. Star Observer has described it as the Gold Coast's only full-time LGBTQIA+ venue.

The program runs to DJs, drag shows featuring local performers, themed parties and community events, including Gold Coast Pride celebrations and bear group gatherings. Food and bar bites are served, and the space is available for hire. Its October 2026 calendar included a Latin party and the Scary Mary's Halloween party.
